MAKE IT SENSE
In my oil paintings I do not look for the image of reality, but the certain impulses behind it. Our perception is filtered by education, origin and experiences - a constant back and forth between what was, and what comes.
I use the canvas as a permanent source to capture moments that escape the mind. Instead of rigid forms, I paint the lines, colours and feelings that I feel inside. Thus, each image becomes a bridge that reminds, inspires and motivates us.
Through my life journey I was able to experience the world of colours from a variety of sides. From the bright colours of the East, to the warm earth tones of the African East Coast, to the rich colours of the West. This path allowed me to experience and understand the colours from different light perspectives.

ABOUT ME?
Hello, my name is Jamal, born in 1983.
Even as a child, I not only looked at the world, but also absorbed it. I remember the glass showcases in the living room in which the garden was reflected, and the dust particles that danced like weightless worlds in the sunlight. For me, the garden was a foreign planet: in the lines and shapes of the stones I discovered creatures that only I could see.
THE REALITY
I understand the world by enjoying it. I take it in with all my senses - be it the feeling of a rough wall, the cool smoothness of a stone or the fine veins of a leaf under my fingers. I have absorbed the cold as consciously as the warmth of the sun. Everything around me, sounds, surfaces, light and situations, is an invitation for me to look deeper and resonate.
My mind uses these impressions to create worlds that go beyond the visible reality. When the sky was covered by thick clouds and the light in the classroom became darker, the whole world changed for me. I immersed myself so deeply in my ideas that these places became more alive to me than reality itself. The light of the lanterns also fascinates me to this day, because their shadows open up a very own level above everyday reality.
THE LONGING FOR CONNECTION
I believe that experiences do not happen by chance, but are focussed. It is a collection of different reasons that bring something into action. When I'm willing to understand something, it appears in my life. My job is to be vigilant and capture those moments.
I feel deeply connected to all this. In my perception, everything has a desire to unite with something specific:
• Things that want to find each other.
• Colours that look for the right mood.
• Sounds that only sound perfectly at the right moment.
I don't just see these connections – I feel and live them. My art is trying to make this invisible bond between man, nature and perception tangible.
